Privacy policy
Last updated 26 July 2026
This policy explains, in plain terms, what personal information TidyCheck holds, why we hold it, and the control you have over it. We have tried to keep it honest and readable rather than long and defensive.
Who we are
TidyCheck is run by [BUSINESS NAME]. We are the "data controller" for the information described here. If you have any question about your data, or want to make a request, write to us at [CONTACT EMAIL] or by post at [POSTAL ADDRESS]. We are registered with the UK's Information Commissioner's Office under number [ICO REG NUMBER].
What we collect, and why
The free checklist tool. You can build and print a checklist without giving us anything at all. If you ask us to email you a copy, we use your email address for that one purpose. The details you type about your home — number of rooms, an address if you choose to add one — are used only to build your checklist. We do not need your name.
TidyCheck Pro (for professional cleaners). To run your account we hold your email address (to sign you in — there is no password), your business name if you add one, and the client and property records you choose to save: a client's name, an address, the rooms, and the record of each clean you carry out.
Mailing lists. We only add you to a mailing list if you actively tick a box asking us to. You can leave at any time using the link in any email we send.
Our legal basis
- To provide the service you asked for (sending your checklist, running your account) — this is performance of a contract with you.
- Marketing emails — only ever with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
- Keeping the service secure and working — our legitimate interest in preventing abuse and fixing faults.
Cookies
TidyCheck Pro sets a single cookie so you stay logged in. It is strictly necessary for the service and stores no marketing information. Our visitor statistics come from Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is privacy-friendly and does not use cookies or track you across other websites. We use no advertising cookies.
Who else touches your data
We keep our use of other companies to a minimum. The two we rely on are trusted providers who act on our instructions:
- Cloudflare — hosts the website and stores the database.
- Resend — delivers the emails we send (your checklist, your login link).
We never sell your data, and we never share it for anyone else's advertising.
How long we keep it
Free-tool email addresses that joined a list are kept until you unsubscribe. Pro account data is kept for as long as your account is open. When you close your account, we delete it and everything in it. You can do this yourself at any time from your dashboard.
Your rights
Under UK and EU data protection law you can ask us to: show you the data we hold, correct anything wrong, delete it, hand you a copy to take elsewhere, or stop a particular use. Pro users can download their full data and delete their account instantly from the dashboard. For anything else, just email us and we will respond within one month.
If you are a professional cleaner using Pro
When you save a client's details in TidyCheck, you decide why and how that information is used — so for your clients' data, you are the data controller and TidyCheck is your processor, handling it on your behalf and only as this policy and our terms describe. Please make sure your own clients are comfortable with their details being stored, and only keep what you genuinely need.
Children
TidyCheck is a tool for adults running or arranging home cleaning. It is not intended for children, and we do not knowingly collect data about anyone under 16.
Changes to this policy
If we change anything meaningful, we will update the date at the top and, where it affects you, tell you directly.
Complaints
We would always rather hear from you first so we can put things right. But you also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
